Soi Cowboy, the Nana Plaza and Patpong are the three biggest Bangkok red light districts. These adult venues cater for tourist looking for a wild time and expats living in the city.
These three areas are the safest Bangkok red light districts and often have good levels of security. They’re perfect for men, couples and gay tourists who are visiting Bangkok for the first time as well as those who have been before or expats who living nearby.
Plus, they have lively atmospheres and many people like to visit just to see the sight! Brace yourself though. These areas are unlike anywhere else in the world. Ready? Let’s go!
Soi Cowboy is Bangkok’s most famous red light district. The red light area was named after retired U.S. pilot TG Edwards who opened the first bar on the road in 1977.
The area is now home to more than 40 bars, including go-go bars, pool bars, and beer bars. There are bar girls and some freelancers.
Soi Cow is the most laid back Bangkok red light area and is also a great place to catch a beer, watch sport and take in the atmosphere. This makes it a great place to start on your journey through Bangkok red light districts.
The Nana Plaza is the Class A of Bangkok red light districts. It is based around a square courtyard style entertainment venue that is PACKED with go-go bars.
Girls, women and ladyboys spill out of every corner – and often spill out of their bikinis – at this high-octane adult venue. The neon playground makes heads spin and pulses race.
There are also loads of bar girls, freelancers and ladyboys on the streets outside the Nana Plaza. In fact, there are women available 24 /7.
Patpong is the oldest Bangkok red light area. Its hey day was in the 1970s and 1980s when it made a name for itself with nightclubs, go-go bars and its trademark ping pong shows which still take place to this very day.
Patpong is the only major Bangkok red light districts that also cater for Thai and Thai / Chinese locals. However, some of the clubs are a little bit old fashioned and the area has lost some appeal in recent years.
Visitors will have fun checking out this red light area for the first time, though. Some bars are cheap, and draught beer can be found for as low as 50 baht a glass. The night market is also good fun.

Still hungry to try more? Well we can recommend Soi 22 for its massage shops and bar girls and beer bars. Or Soi 33 has plenty of massage parlours offering soapy rub downs.
The Ratchada area in the north of Bangkok has some large entertainment venues and massage parlours. But these are focused towards Thai locals and Japanese or Chinese tourists.
Soi Sukhumvit 26 is home to a tasty selection of massage spas offering action throughout the day and late into the night. There are more smaller red light areas scattered around Bangkok but those mentioned above are the main places.
