One student was killed and five others injured after a mass knife fight caused a blood bath in broad day light yesterday.
The two groups of engineering students some from rival universities came to blows after one of them insulted the other in Nonthaburi, Thailand.
They gathered on motorbikes near a market and the fight involving up to a dozen youngsters escalated into carnage when one student produced a SWORD followed by others who used knifes.
One was stabbed and died later in hospital while five others were severely wounded causing large puddles of blood to form on the street.
Pictures show one girl being treated on the ground while another teenage boy’s head is split open.
Thanayut Wuthijaratthumrong, Commission of provincial police region one, said a number of the students were electrical engineering students from the Bang Phlat district in Bangkok while one was studying in the capital’s Dusit Thani region.
He said: ”Police have to examine the scene. We must find the person who caused it all. We must collect evidence and make the arrest warrant.
‘’Witnesses said the students were on motorcycles and there was resentment between the two parties.”
The Ruam rescue foundation which attended the scene said the injured students were being treated at Pranangklao hospital.
The fight started when one teenager beckoned another for a fight, they said.
The Ruam foundation said: ”One of the students had severe wounds, hacked and stabbed, one had was hanging almost off. Another student lie comatose unconscious.
‘’There seems to be no reason behind the fight other than one saying something to offend another and it grew from there.”
