A British businessman and his Filipino wife were abducted by several unidentified armed men inside a beach resort they owned in the Philippines on October 4.
Tukuran police said that victims Allan and Wilma Hyrons, was getting off their van in front of Hyrons Beach Resort in Tukuran, Zamboanga Del Sur when four armed men approached the couple at gunpoint and forced them to the beach front.
The suspects, with the couple held captive, joined two other men at the beach who were waiting for them on two motor boats.
The two men on motorboats were identified by the police because they checked in at the resort a day before the abduction. The Philippine National Police Region 9 has released today the facial composite and photograph of the two suspects. The photograph came from the resort’s security camera and based off statements from staff and witnesses.
The provincial government of Zamboanga Del Sur offered a 1-million pesos reward to anyone who can give information on the whereabouts of the suspects.
The military also said that it will focus its search and rescue operations for the kidnapped couple on the Zamboanga peninsula and its surrounding islands.
Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom) chief Lieutenant General Cirilito Sobejana said on a media interview today: “The search and rescue effort is continuous. We are concentrating on the mainland. The group does not seem to have crossed to nearby island Basilan or Sulu.”
The military has also set up a naval blockade and sent air patrols around the peninsula.
