A Canadian tourist was found dead with a slit throat in a guest house in Thailand this week.
Kevin Thomas, 60, had been renting the room in tourist favourite Chiang Mai in the north of the country for several months.
However, on Tueday August 27 the maid was worried because she had not seen him for a couple of days. She knocked the door but received no answer.
The police together with the rescue team broke into the room and found the old man dead in the bathroom with a rancid smell in the room.
Officers are now probing whether the wound was self-inflicted.
Police Liutenant Colonel Anek Chaiyawong, who investigated the scene, said: “We found Mr Thomas lying in the bathroom. He was already dead.
”Despite having a wound on his neck that was caused by a sharp object we found no sign of fighting.
“Moreover, there was no sign of burglary as all his belongings were in place. The body was sent to the hospital for an autopsy and we will be informed of the cause of the death later.”
