A heartbroken mother gave birth then threw her newborn baby from a 17th floor window – because her married boyfriend left her to return to his family.
Netchanok Nokyungtong, 20, was devastated when her cheating 40-year-old boyfriend from South Korea found out she was pregnant and left her.
She went into labour unexpectedly yesterday afternoon in Pattaya and gave birth to a boy alone inside her room in the high-rise apartment block.
But a horrified workman at a room on the fourth floor told police that he saw a large object fall past his window and hit the ground at around 5pm.
He ran down to check the package and was ‘’shocked’’ to find the youngster.
Police arrived and found the bloodied tot wrapped in a green plastic bag with the umbilical cord still attached. His heart was not beating.
Officers checked CCTV and later arrested Netchanok who admitted throwing the baby out the window because her boyfriend ‘’Kim’’ from South Korea, already had a family and returned to them after finding out she was pregnant.
She told police that she gave birth ‘’unexpectedly’’ in the bathroom and opened the window and dropped her son outside in the Banglamung district of the city.
Police Colonel Apichai Khemphet, head of Pattaya Police, said Netchanok admitted killing the girl and would be prosecuted after all the evidence had been gathered.
He said today (Tue): ‘’Miss Netchanok Nokyungtong gave birth in bathroom where blood was found on the floor. She said she was shocked and not ready for the birth.
‘’The boyfriend is a married foreigner from South Korea who did not want to stay with her. She was heartbroken because he returned to his family.
‘’She put the baby in a plastic bag and threw it out of the window and it died.”
Police initially believed that the baby may have been born prematurely and died before it was thrown from the building.
But after investigating the death and arresting Netchanok they said she had admitted deliberately killing the youngster.
She was photographed yesterday (Mon) at the police station and then later that night showing police the room and window where it happened.
Netchanok said she had been in a relationship with her boyfriend ‘’Kim’’, aged 40, from South Korea for two years.
But after telling him she was pregnant he wanted nothing to do with her and left to go back to his wife.
Police Colonel Apichai Khemphet added: ”This is a very brutal crime. The baby was born in a healthy condition. The mother did not have grief for what had happened.
‘’Her boyfriend had left and tried to tell her to abort the baby. She said she did not have money to support the child.
‘’She has also now been taken to hospital to be checked. But she will stay in police custody and be prosecuted.’’
