Pattaya Hookers Rounded Up In Police Trucks

Twenty-two hookers are rounded up in trucks as police launch a bizarre crime blitz – to find a stolen iPhone.

Officers picked up the random sex workers just after midnight this morning in Pattaya.

The girls were driven to the local police station to have their details taken while cops investigated a phone stolen from two Russian girls on Thursday.

Officers later raided the home of a local ladyboy who was arrested and confessed to stealing the handset from tourist Julia Krasilnikova, 30, as she relaxed on the beach with a friend.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Piyapong Ansan said there would be ‘’no action to strong to protect tourists from crime’’ as the young hookers were unloaded from trucks and cars.

He said: ‘’Police targeted the beach area and took the details of prostitutes there in order to prevent crime in the future.

‘’A total of 22 women were detained at the station and had their photographs taken and names and addresses recorded.

”If ever a tourist has a problem, this will make it easier to trace the offender. Protecting tourists is important and we will the use the full force of our resources to do that.”

The crackdown came after Russian holidaymaker Julia and her friend were approached by a ladyboy on the beach who was drinking beer and began chatting with them at 4am on Thursday morning.

Officers arrested the transsexual, later named as Chenso Mayt, 31, in the early hours of this morning who handed over the stolen goods and was pictured making a confession and apology at the Pattaya City police station.

Pol Lt Col Ansan added: ‘’The beautiful Russian women were sitting on the beach talking when they were approached by two people who joined in.

”Police checked CCTV and made a quick response to solve the crime. The ladyboy was arrested in the early hours of the morning and they will be prosecuted according to the law.’’

The ladyboy and her boyfriend appeared at a press conference later in the afternoon in handcuffs together. They were interviewed by head of Pattaya Police Apichai Krobpetch.

It all seems like a strange overreaction to a stolen iPhone. But any chance the local bobbies get to show they’re doing their job properly, they exploit it for all it’s worth. Even if that means rounding up 22 hookers in police trucks and hauling in a ladyboy to be grilled on camera by the big boss.
