This is the reason why I’d never do a skydive…

Russian skydiver Topychkanov Viacheslav, 35,  plunged thousands of feet to his death after his parachute failed to open at an air field in Pattaya.

Topychkanov had been recording a tandem skydive with another couple but got into difficulties after strong winds caused havoc during the descent.

He opened the chute but it failed to spread and he had a desperate fall to the ground as horrified staff looked on from below.

Topychkanov smashed into the ground dying instantly from a broken neck and legs after the early morning skydive.

Topychkanov’s YouTube channels shows dozens of him skydiving. He had been jumping for at least five years and moved to Thailand to work as instructor and video maker.

Topychkanov was hired by a company called Skydive Pattaya to film its client and coach as they made their dive. The other two skydivers landed safely.

Maj. Pongsakorn Phonphan of Nong Kham Police Station, said that they had spoken with staff but nobody had been charge.

He said: ”The wind moved up against his parachute. The weather changed unpredictably. It was an accident,

”We don’t believe it was because of faulty equipment.”

Police said they had questioned witnesses and taken evidence from the scene but they are treating the death as an accident.

A spokesman for Skydive Pattaya said: ”It’s a big shock. A tragedy. But we cannot talk anymore about it.”
