This is the dramatic moment a tourist threating to jump from the edge of an airport flyover was dragged to safety.
Adriana Stanaityte, 21, had been due catch a flight from Phuket, Thailand, to Moscow yesterday (30/01) afternoon but was upset after breaking up with her boyfriend while on holiday.
She missed the check-in cut off point after being told to buy a new ticket, she fled the airport in tears saying she had no money.
Adriana, from Lithuania, was next seem standing on the edge of the three-storey high road at Phuket International Airport telling bystanders that she wanted to jump.
The local tour guide Amonrat Aunkai approached her and started talking to her as a distraction while taxi driver Apichat Intharaksa ran up and pulled the woman down to safety.
Adriana was taken to the airport medical team assisted by the tourist police.
She told the police that she was desperate after breaking up with her boyfriend. The two of them had been on holiday together but had fallen out. She said she decided to fly back home alone but had missed her flight.
Adriana said: ”I missed my departure flight SU275 at 11:55am to Moscow. The airline told me to book a new flight, but I don’t have enough money.”
Adriana said she was overwhelmed with stress before running outside and standing on the egde of the high road.
Captain Eakkachai Siri of the Phuket Tourist Police said that the police continued to provide assistance for the distraught tourist.
He said: ”Right now, she has been taken to the Thalang Hospital for check ups before catching her next flight. We are going to take care of her and make sure she is safe until she departs.”
